Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 12/12/13

Currently the water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park are higher than average at 74-76 degrees. We have been catching some nice sized Speckled Sea Trout on both the outside Gulf flats and in the back country rivers. Sheepshead have been arriving in big numbers as they do each winter and we have been catching them in the deeper pockets in the river mouths on live shrimp. The Redfish bite slowed a bit, but we have been getting some in the 18" - 24" range on the incoming tides using shrimp under popping corks. Other common catches this week have been Spanish Mackerel, Bonnethead Sharks, Jack Crevelle, Ladyfish, Mangrove Snapper, Tripletail, and more.  Isn't it time you got out and experienced some of the best fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida? Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 10/20/13

The National Park is open again and we have been fishing a lot, and are catching some great fish! Redfish are our primary targets right now. Sheepshead, Spotted Sea Trout, Black Drum, & Snook are all secondary catches. The near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park are now ranging between 81 and 84 degrees. The redfish are almost all slot size between 18" and 27". Very few have been under the slot, however some are over sized. Most have been hitting shrimp under popping corks, Gulp Shrimp on jig heads, and live bait such as finger Mullet & Pilchards.  Isn't it time you got out and experienced some of the best fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida? Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 9/30/13

Our fall fishing season is right around the corner as we look forward to some days that are slightly cooler and less humid. Right now our primary targets are Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout, Black Drum, & Snook. The near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park are now ranging between 82 and 84 degrees. Fleet Captain, Capt Gary had a productive weekend fishing the outgoing tides. Bait was plentiful in the area so Capt Gary threw his cast net and was able to fish whitebait. His crew caught lots of Snook in the 25" range and one which was right around 34". Snook were found on the outer islands, tight to the trees and rootlines on the top of the tide. They also used live shrimp to entice a bunch of Redfish and trout. Reds caught were up to 28" in length and trout were slot sized. These fish were found in the back bays behind the outer islands.
