Fishing Report Chokoloskee - Fishing Report Everglades City - Fishing Report 10000 Islands - Fishing Report Everglades National Park Florida

We had a busy week right into a solid booked weekend of charters. Joey Quinn flew in from Indiana to fish a couple full day charters. What a great time he had catching literally dozens of Redfish. There were Tarpon just about everywhere we went - on the flats and in the rivers. They were having a blast chasing and eating the schools of Mullet that came into the area. Joey had an alligator come out of nowhere and chase down and grab his popping cork. The gator would not let go and actually let Joey reel him all the way up to the boat. It was really funny!

The wind really picked up on Saturday. It blew the tide out and kept it out. The extreme low tides and windy conditions really limited where we could fish. We all ended up staying in the river mouths and fished some of the deeper holes which ended up holding some hungry fish. On Saturday, Harris, Sal, and Mike came from Miramar, FL to fish a full day charter. We actually got into our first Sheepshead of the Fall season and managed to get a few in the cooler. We had a decent catch of Snook. Most of them were in the 14-18" range. Some slot size Reds, and a bunch of Mangrove Snapper ended up coming back to the dock as dinner guests.

We are all looking forward to the Snook migration into the back waters next month and fantastic Fall season!

Fishing Report October 11th, 2011

Thankfully Chokoloskee managed to evade the threat of eminent thunderstorm doom that the weatherman promised us all weekend. We were all on the brink of cancelling all of our charters scheduled for Saturday and Sunday because of the predicted monsoon rain and wind. Text messages were going back and forth between us worried captains, but with a lot of luck and a shift in the storms, we managed to have a dry weekend, did not have to cancel any charters, and the fishing was actually GREAT!

The wind really picked up Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but we were able to fish some nice calm areas on the lee side of the mangrove islands. Surprisingly, the water stayed fairly clean with the high winds, and the fish remained hungry. Current water temperatures are 79 degrees and will gradually drop as we head toward November.

On Saturday I had out Don Kubit and he managed to catch a nice amount of Redfish, some fat Speckled Trout, some Mangrove Snapper, and of course some spunky little ladyfish. We used popping corks the entire time. Some of the fish ate live shrimp and some Gulp! Shrimp.

We are all looking forward to the Snook migration into the back waters next month and fantastic Fall season!

Fishing Report October 4th 2011

What a beautiful weekend! We received our first cool front reminding us that the fall season is upon us. The air temperatures got down to 67 degrees in the morning, and hit 84 by mid day. The humidity was a little lower than it has been, so the comfort level was nice. Water temperatures were about 80 degrees near shore.  We will start to see a gradual change in our water temperatures as we head towards fall weather patterns. We are now leaving the dock at 8:00am. and fishing 4,6, and 8 hour charters. Here in Chokoloskee and the Everglades City areas of the Everglades National Park, we have been catching a nice amount of Redfish and Mangrove Snapper. The wind picked up Saturday afternoon, Sunday, and continues to blow a little today. This North East wind helps blow the water out on the outgoing tide and keeps it out. Because of this we did experience extreme low tides especially on Sunday. The wind also muddied up the water on the outside flats making the Trout fishing tough.  On Sunday I had out John, Lisa, and their daughter Emma from Naples. Emma proved to be the "Master Angler"  of the crew and caught a nice amount of Redfish & Mangrove Snapper. They went home with a few fillets and some Captain Rapps Seasonings! I am so looking forward to the Snook migration into the back waters next month.
