Fishing Report: Everglades City & Chokoloskee July 4, 2012

The water temps in the near coastal and river areas of Everglades National Park are currently fluctuating between 83 and 86 degrees. We are now catching some nice Spotted Sea Trout, Snook, Redfish, a few Tarpon, Mangrove Snapper, and a variety of Sharks. Using live shrimp hooked up under a popping cork is working best. Live bait like Pilchards have been available and make awesome Redfish & Snook candy. Some mornings have presented good Tarpon opportunities around the 10,000 Islands. The close in wrecks and bottom structures are great for Permit and a variety of other fish. It's a beautiful time of year for fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee. Give Captain Rapps' Charters and Guides a call today!

Fishing Report: Bahia Honda Tarpon Charters 6/10/12

What a week of fantastic Tarpon fishing at the Bahia Honda bridge it has been! Both the outgoing and incoming tides are producing consistent fish, with the outgoing tide being just a little more productive. Charter clients Joe and Clay went out on multiple trips with us this week and were fighting fish for hours on end. The bite cycled from mediocre to EPIC, and many large Tarpon were caught with DNA samples obtained along with healthy releases. Jeff and Kate hooked into numerous fish on 3 charters. Jeff landed and released a huge 170lb fish after an hour of pure adrenaline fighting. On Thursday customer Arne and his wife hooked into 7 fish on a 4 hour charter. On Friday Capt Pete Rapps, Capt Kevin, and Capt Nate converted a total of 12 Tarpon virgins into experienced Tarpon anglers on 5 separate charters! What a week it has been! Come on down to the Florida keys!

Bahia Honda Tarpon Report 6/1/12

With several evenings of Palolo worm hatches in the past week, we have seen some of the best Tarpon fishing that the peak season has to offer. We had customers Joey and Jeff out for 2 incredible evenings of Tarpon charters during the worm hatch. We had 3 "doubles" of hooking and fighting two tarpon at one time. Talk about drag screaming adrenaline pumping action! We also had 9 people get their "first time ever Tarpon" this weekend alone. If you ever wanted to hook into a monster Tarpon on a Captain Rapps Bahia Honda Tarpon Fishing Charter, now is the time! We have 4 captains in our fleet: Captain Kevin, Captain Brandon, Captain Nate, and myself. We have a few openings left this season so please contact me ASAP to get booked in. We are just 20 minutes from Marathon, and 40 minutes from Key West in the Florida keys.

Water temperatures in the coastal areas of Everglades National Park are currently right at 85 degrees. Mild weather patterns and low winds have helped make the water calm and clear. Our guides on our fishing charters are now catching some great coastal shoreline Redfish, Snook, Spotted Sea Trout, Mangrove Snapper, and a variety of Sharks. Live shrimp presented under a popping cork are working best. Live Pilchards have been available an are perfect Snook candy. The nearshore wrecks and structures are producing Permit and a vairety of other fish. What a nice time of year to fish the Everglades National Park, Chokoloskee, Everglades City, and the 10000 Islands.
