Bahia Honda Tarpon Fishing Report 4/11/13

The Tarpon have arrived in very good numbers here at the Bahia Honda Bridge, in Big Pine Key, FL in the last few weeks. Captain Kevin has been out about every day and working our Tarpon charters around the tides and wind. A good bite has been happening in the evening and the Tarpon have been hitting a number of baits including Pinfish, mullet, crabs, and some big buck tail jigs. Tarpon season is NOW and we have a few availabilities left so now is the time to get booked in to your Captain Rapps' Bahia Honda Tarpon Charter! If you are traveling into Florida's lower Keys, give us a call or book your trip online!

Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 4/10/13

4/10/13 Our Spring heating trend is here and we have seen some nice water temperature increases in the last week here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park. Today the water temperature was right at 77 degrees in the back bay areas. The water clarity has been a little off from all of the wind we had last week, but good clean water can be found in many areas. All of the Fleet Captains have been out most days and catching some of the largest Speckled Sea Trout that we have seen in some time. We had a good amount of 4-1/2 to 5 lb "Gator Trout" come in between 22"-25". Most charters have produced a few slot size Redfish and some Snook, some Tripletail, lots of Bluefish, and the typical Ladyfish and Jack action. The rising tides have again proved to have the best action. We have been using live shrimp under popping corks, gulp shrimp on small jig heads, DOA jerkbaits, and some live whitebaits. Spring is here and its a great time of year for fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida. Chokoloskee and Everglades City Fishing Report 1/3/13

1/3/13 We have had a few cold mornings and some warm afternoons so the water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park are still ranging between 65 and 68 degrees in the back country areas. We have had some exceptional fishing and some notable catches this past week while fishing some fantastic customers, both new to the Capt Rapps Family, and regular / repeat loyal customers. Redfish have been around in good numbers. Pete Klopf along with son Parker, and friend Bert got 28 Reds on one spot, Capt Kurt put Don and Darren on 32 Reds, Capt Bob put Bertrand and crew on 10 Pompano, and the great catching list goes on. Reds have been hitting shrimp under poppong corks on the incoming tide around oyster bars, Sheepshead are here and hitting Shrimp presented naturally on a circle hook in the deep mangrove shorelines. See photos below of other fantastic catches here in Chokoloskee and Everglades City this past week.   It's an awesome time of year for fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida. Fishing Report 12/21/12

12/21/12 Water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park are ranging between 66 and 67 degrees in the back country areas. We have had another amazing couple of weeks of fantastic and fun charter customers that really helped all of us captains re-confirm why we love what we do so much. It has a lot to do with the fish we catch, but our customers are a huge factor...Thank you for being awesome! This past week most of our charters occurred during falling tides and with some scouting and tactics, they produced some fantastic catches here in Chokoloskee and Everglades City.  Using a variety of soft plastic DOA jigs, popping corks with shrimp, and live pilchards, Mike, Adam, Scott, and Dave got into some beautiful areas and as you can see in the photos below, some darn good fishing. It's been really good with many Trout and nice Reds being caught on just about every trip, Snook on most trips, and even some nice Tripletail, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Mackerel, and Flounder too. It's a fantastic time of year for fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida.
