Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 7/7/13

It's hot out and summer fishing is here! The fishing has been really good the past 2 weeks here in the Everglades National Park. The near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park and are now ranging between 83 and 84 degrees. Captain Brandon, Capt Kurt, Capt Gary, & Capt John, have been fishing mainly for Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout, and Snook. Many of the best catches have been on live shrimp, jigs, and popping corks. Live bait has been a little scarce but it really has not been necessary at all! Many of the Trout we are catching right now are in the 18"-23" range. We have had many days with limits being caught. Check out some of our photos below of fantastic catches here in Chokoloskee and Everglades City caught on Captain Rapps' Charters.  Isn't it time you got out and experienced some of the best fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida? Bahia Honda Tarpon Fishing Report 6/12/13

Tarpon Fishing  Report 6/12/13
We had a couple days of nasty weather and rain as Tropical Storm Andrea made it's way through Florida a few days back, however with the exception of one non-fishable day with 30mph south winds, the Tarpon have been biting strong at the Bahia Honda. We have been hand picking the best tides to fish, and the results have been fantastic. Fleet Captain Kevin Grubb was the first place captain for the 37th annual Woman's Tarpon Tournament with an astounding 8 leader releases while fishing local lady angler Barbara Bentley. Captain Kevin's expertise along with Barbara's ability to reel in that many Tarpon made for a landslide victory for the team. Captain Pete Rapps and Captain Kevin Grubb have been backing down on so many Tarpon the last few days that every charter has ended with more "High 5's" and "Woo Hoo's" than you could imagine. Tarpon Season is winding down here at the Bahia Honda so be sure to get out in the next week before it's too late. Also, charters are booking up for next April, May, and June so plan ahead and get your dates locked in. Have you been trying to get your first Tarpon or just want to catch more? Well get in on the action and call Captain Rapps to book your charter before someone else snags your preferred dates. We are a close drive from Key West, Islamorada, Marathon, and other areas of the Florida Keys.

Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 5/21/13

Warm weather and light breezes have made another fantastic week of fishing in the Everglades National Park. The near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park and are now ranging between 81 and 84 degrees in the back country areas. Captain Kurt, Captain John, and Captain Brandon have been targeting Redfish and Spotted Sea Trout the past couple of weeks with many nice 20"-26" Redfish being caught, 16"-21" Spotted Sea Trout too. Big black drum have been around and Capt Kurt and one of his charters got into a school of 20-26 pounders on light tackle... talk about a "Blast"!   Snook have been cruising the near coastal shore lines with some nice 20"-31" Snook being caught on a few of our charters. Most of our recent fishing has been with soft plastic jigs, buck tail jigs, and shrimp under popping corks. The offshore fishing for Permit with live crabs has been really good too. See photos below of fantastic catches here in Chokoloskee and Everglades City this past week on Captain Rapps Charters.  It is warm and mild out which is what makes May a fantastic time of year for fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida.
