Warm weather and light breezes have made another fantastic week of fishing in the Everglades National Park. The near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park and are now ranging between 81 and 84 degrees in the back country areas. Captain Kurt, Captain John, and Captain Brandon have been targeting Redfish and Spotted Sea Trout the past couple of weeks with many nice 20"-26" Redfish being caught, 16"-21" Spotted Sea Trout too. Big black drum have been around and Capt Kurt and one of his charters got into a school of 20-26 pounders on light tackle... talk about a "Blast"!   Snook have been cruising the near coastal shore lines with some nice 20"-31" Snook being caught on a few of our charters. Most of our recent fishing has been with soft plastic jigs, buck tail jigs, and shrimp under popping corks. The offshore fishing for Permit with live crabs has been really good too. See photos below of fantastic catches here in Chokoloskee and Everglades City this past week on Captain Rapps Charters.  It is warm and mild out which is what makes May a fantastic time of year for fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida. Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 5/3/13

5/3/13 Spring time heat and sunny days has warmed up the water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park and are now ranging between 78 and 83 degrees in the back country areas. Fishing for Redfish and Trout has been productive using DOA soft plastics on 3/8oz red and chartreuse jig heads. We have been working them over 4'-5' outside flats on the incoming tides with great results on Trout, and the Reds have been hitting the same DOA jigs and also shrimp under popping corks around oyster bars and mangrove shorelines. See photos below of Captain Kurt's crew's fantastic catches here in Chokoloskee and Everglades City this past week.  It warm and mild out which is what makes May a fantastic time of year for fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida. Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 4/10/13

4/10/13 Our Spring heating trend is here and we have seen some nice water temperature increases in the last week here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park. Today the water temperature was right at 77 degrees in the back bay areas. The water clarity has been a little off from all of the wind we had last week, but good clean water can be found in many areas. All of the Fleet Captains have been out most days and catching some of the largest Speckled Sea Trout that we have seen in some time. We had a good amount of 4-1/2 to 5 lb "Gator Trout" come in between 22"-25". Most charters have produced a few slot size Redfish and some Snook, some Tripletail, lots of Bluefish, and the typical Ladyfish and Jack action. The rising tides have again proved to have the best action. We have been using live shrimp under popping corks, gulp shrimp on small jig heads, DOA jerkbaits, and some live whitebaits. Spring is here and its a great time of year for fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida.
