Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 11/5/14

The water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park have been ranging this week between 68 and 70 degrees. Yesterday I had John, Eric, and Diane out on a 3/4 day charter. The wind was blowing 25mph from the east so we had to carefully pick spots that were out of the wind. The tide was extremely low at the start of our trip which gave us an awesome incoming tide just about the entire trip. We started out in the deeper pockets of the rivers and river mouths and hooked up with some really nice Sheepshead and Snook. As the tide came in further, we decided to hit some of the outside barrier island oyster bars and got into some nice Redfish and Snook. Everything was caught on live shrimp under popping corks. Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 10/22/14

The water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park have been ranging in the upper 70's. This past week we have seen a nice break in the humidity and have had a few cool mornings in the 60's. The water has been fairly clear and winds low. There is a lot of live bait in the area right now, and the pods of bait can be found easily all over the flats and near coastal waters. We have been catching some fantastic Redfish in big numbers. This week Daryl, Alyssa, and Tony, all from Florida, fished with me on a 3/4 day trip. They caught some nice Redfish, Flounder, and Trout for dinner. Alyssa boated a 25" Redfish after it ate a live Thread Herring. One spot produced over 20 Redfish. Capt Kurt had Dave from California out and got into some nice slot sized Snook which were all released. The weather is supposed to get wet the next few days, but we still expect the fishing to be fantastic after because of the amount of quality fish and bait in the area.  Isn't it time you got out and experienced some of the best fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park out of Everglades City & Chokoloskee Florida? The water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park have been ranging this week between 86 and 89 degrees. Daytime air temperatures have been averaging 88 degrees. Our primary targets are currently Speckled Sea Trout on the flats, Redfish on the oyster bars, and Snook around the barrier islands. This past week in July, Captains John, Kurt, Gary, and Brandon have had our crews out for 4 and 6 hour charters and been back to the dock early enough to avoid our summer time afternoon rain storms. Redfish, Trout, Snook, Black tip and Bonnethead sharks, Black Drum, Mangrove Snapper, & Mackerel, have been caught on many of the trips. Chokoloskee & Everglades City Fishing Report 4/13/14

The water temperatures here in the near coastal waters and river areas of the 10000 Islands of the Everglades National Park have been ranging this week between 71 and 75 degrees. We have had a challenging couple of weeks of fishing due to the winds, but still have managed to lock into some nice fish. Primary targets have been Speckled Sea Trout on the outside flats and grassy areas, along with Redfish on the oyster bars of the outside barrier island shorelines and the mangroves in the nearshore river areas. Snook are on the move from the back country into the near coastal river areas and shore areas. Best bet for the Snook has been both live pilchards and also live shrimp under popping corks. Tarpon are showing on some of the flats. We have hooked into some just by chance while fishing for Trout.  Bonnet head and black tip sharks are hitting near shore and prove to be a lot of fun on light spin tackle.
