The wind finally settled down the last few days and we were able to fish some areas that were just too choppy to fish the last 2 weeks. Despite all of that wind, the water color remains surprisingly good. The water temperature is currently 71 degrees. Some nice schools of bait are in the area and a few throws of the cast net have really made for some good fishing for us. The Redfish bite remains solid and the Snook bite has increased nicely too. Yesterday we fished to the North of Chokoloskee and boated some quality Snook up to 33" using live Pilchards fishing over hard bottom with a good falling tidal flow. Captain Brandon has been getting into some nice Snook and consistent catches of Redfish. We have all been catching some big fat Trout, and look forward to open season the first of the year.
Below are some photos of our catches of the week.

The wind has been blowing non stop for a few weeks now, but the fish do not seem to care. We are fishing some fantastic close by inshore areas that are protected from the wind. Since this is the 10,000 islands, and you can always find a calm area on the lee side of the islands.

This past week has been a busy one out on the water. A few days ago we had out a Naples based crew - Greg Scalogna and his son Joey, along with John and his son JT. It proved to be a busy day as the crew reeled in numerous fish including Redfish, Snook, Trout, Sheepshead, Snapper, Puffer Fish, Jacks, & Ladyfish. Ernie Ianotta from Chicago brought back some nice Redfish for dinner. Scott Newsome from Naples caught a mess of Speckled trout, Redfish, Flounder, and more. John Czencz from Miami caught some fantastic Reds, big Snook, and Flounder. Don Kubit from Coral Gables kept busy reeing in Reds and trout. Capt Brandon kept Brian Lozano on a mess of Reds and Snook, and Father and Son team Barry Kligerman from Ft Lauderdale and Dave Kligerman from Washington DC kept busy reeling in Trout, Reds, Snapper, and more for the entire charter.

It sure has been a windy week on the water, but the fish sure did not seem to care. Yes we had to spend some time scouting the area looking for some water that was less muddy then the rest. But after a little searching, we did find small areas clean enough to fish, and it paid off.

Friday morning we had out Inge, Tom and Dean from Marco Island. Young Dean managed to be the angler of the day after catching a beautiful Trout (which was carefully released after a quick photo). Many other fish were caught by the crew including some keeper Reds, Snook, Flounder, and many others. On Saturday Tracy, Josh, and Brittany from Naples had a busy day reeling in one Redfish after another. They caught so many keeper Redfish we lost track of them. Tracy even hooked into a nice shark and handed over the rod for Josh to rumble with. Some Manatee and dolphins made visits. On Sunday Kevin, Tyler, and Riley from Naples had a blast catching a mess of Redfish along with other fish including Black Drum, Snook, Snapper, Flounder, Puffer Fish, and more.

We had another busy week right into a solid booked weekend of charters. I had Kurt Kintz from Lake Worth, FL out, while Capt Brandon had Bob Haege out, and Capt Bob had Eddie Tribble out. We all got into a nice amount of Redfish, with many being in the slot range. Some Snook were caught, along with Trout, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Snapper, Flounder, and a couple of big Sharks. The water was pretty stirred up from all the wind, but we managed to find some clean water and get onto a nice bite. Eddie caught his first slam ever.... Reds, Trout, and Snook. A good time was had by all. This coming week will prove to be even better as the tides will not be so extreme, the wind is supposed to die down, the water will clean up, and the temperatures will drop making it really comfortable out there!

As the cooler weather comes in and the water temperatures drop, we will also be targeting Snook as they work their way into the back waters.
